Across the country, shelters are overflowing due to a rise in stray pets. At our shelter, some animals have waited more than a year to find their loving homes. While we’re dedicated to caring for each one, we never want to see shelters reach these capacity levels. This is why our focus on preventive work, like spaying and neutering, is so essential.

Our efforts also include community support, such as low-cost vaccination clinics and free pet food and supplies, to ensure that no one has to make difficult choices between their own needs and those of their pets. We want pets and people to stay together and for fewer pets to end up in shelters. All donations up to $200,000 will be triple matched this holiday season thanks to a generous grant from Best Friends Animal Society and a gift from a local supporter. Right now your gift has the greatest impact, allowing us to help three times the number of homeless pets. We are counting on you to help us care for thousands of pets over the next year.

With your support, we aim to raise $50,000 this Giving Tuesday. This amount can fund a month's worth of spay/neuter surgeries—approximately 500 surgeries—or cover the cost of care for 55 shelter pets, with an average of $910 spent on each pet. Join us in reaching our goal and share the love by giving more tattoos to pets while receiving one yourself.

Enjoy a dog-themed celebration with adoptable dogs and temporary tattoos. Tucson Hop Shop will be donating a percentage of all sales on 12/3 to help support spay and neuter programs and Humble & Grand Tattoo Co. will also offer tattoo specials benefiting Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

Join us for a cat-themed celebration featuring information about our Community Cat services and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts. Enjoy live music and receive a tattoo with every donation. JoJo's Restaurant will be donating 10% of all sales during the event to Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

Donation Power Hour
Pima Federal Credit Union will be sponsoring a Power Hour on December 3rd with a $2,500 donation. During the Power Hour, HSSA CEO Dr. Kristin Barney will apply a temporary tattoo for every donation received.
