Meet Our Undersocialized Kittens
Recently, six kittens were anonymously left at The Humane Society of Southern Arizona with a heartfelt note:
"Hello, we were born to a stray mother on May 1st who disappeared about 5 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the family who took us in can no longer care for us nor can they afford any intake fees. Please find us good homes. Thanks."

What to Do If You Find Outdoor Cats or Kittens
While our mission is to help every cat find a loving home, it’s important to understand that sometimes the best thing for outdoor cats is to leave them in their natural environment. These cats have adapted to life outdoors and may not always adjust well to a domestic setting. However, when young kittens are brought into our care, as in this case, we do our best to socialize them and find them suitable homes.
Understanding Kitten Socialization
Kittens have a critical socialization period, typically between 2 to 7 weeks of age, where they learn to interact with humans and other animals. We believe these kittens had some socialization with humans, but they are still a little shy and skittish. While it's possible to improve their behavior and socialization after this period, it requires someone experienced with cat behavior who can devote time to helping these kittens adjust and thrive.
Why We Charge Intake Fees
At The Humane Society of Southern Arizona, we charge intake fees to help cover the costs of caring for the animals in our care. These fees ensure that each animal receives medical attention, proper nutrition, and a safe place to stay while they wait for their forever homes.
